Spurs set to sign Pedro

Tottenham are set to sign Sampdoria defensive midfielder Pedro Obiang, beating the likes of Napoli and Manchester City.

The highly-rated 20 year-old has been in fine form this season in Serie A, with his tough tackling and mature displays gaining flattering comparisons with Michael Essien and Nigel De Jong from football pundits and fans.

According to reports in Italy, Obiang would be available for around £5.5m and he would welcome a move to the Premier League. Obiang’s agent Jose Miguel Gonzalez has added fuel to the fire by saying: “We know that several Italian, English and Spanish clubs are following him. We are excited about the interest of other clubs, there are many rumours.”

Andre-Villas-Boas is keen to keep midfield talisman Scott Parker as fresh as possible and Obiang’s arrival would add strength in depth to the Spurs midfield. The defensive midfielder, who has dual nationality with Spain and Gabon, has come up through the ranks with Athletic Madrid with the likes of David De Gea and Fernando Torres and has represented Spain at U-19 level.

According to the Daily Mail, the Spanish midfielder has been chased by Spurs for the last three years and the North London club feel that the time is right to sign the midfield protege. It is thought he would provide a perfect accompaniment to Moussa Dembele as he has impressed alongside creative playmaker Andrea Poli in the Sampdoria midfield for two seasons.

This sounds very good to me, but I will only believe it when it happens.

Co-sign the above. What terrible “reporting”, especially the inability to acknowledge a certain someone called Sandro. Pathetic!

Well said Tom

What nonsense. Spurs already have Parker and Sandro. Spurs need creative players in the middle not more defensive ones.

Ed December 29, 2012 at 6:36 pm

How about I write a piece headlined: “Spurs set to sign a hamster and a dog”? About as crdible as this nonsense

Absolute rubbish, and demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge of Spurs… I will put in a word with whomever I can to take this muppet blog down

Cover for Parker? Don’t let the fact that Parker is now cover for Sandro stop you from writting this bollox. We’re not in the market for a Defensive midfielder, it’s further up the pitch we’re looking to strengthen in. The author knows this, he just hoped to catch enough of us thinking “Pedro from Barca”? Utter trash!

This site is always full of shit. Big bullshit headlines to get hits and nothing worthy to read.

If Parker is staying we have no need of this player. Moutinho for that position maybe.

Some of you don’t seem too capble of deep thought here.
Sure we have Sandro who can play uninjured forever.
Sure we have parker who is near useby date and lucky to have 1-2 seasons left and becoming fragile.
Sure we have Livermore but I doubt that AVB rates him and harry would love to have him.

We have been looking at DCMs for 2 years and this IS a possible.

We DO need Erikson to rotate with Dembele and even play with him. We also need more speed and grunt in CM as AVB is clearly squad rotating CDs and will do so in CM when he is happy with the depth(IMO AVB does NOT rate Thud). But if Dawson has another stinker (like the first 45 vs SAFC…as did Walker IMO) he wont be long going either and that Ajax CD could be next as well.

Obviously AVB sees Rose as the reseve LB and Smith as the reserve RB in the future while Naughton covers both flanks. We do need that extra striker but Kane still might become the 4th one.

What we need is strikers. Do we not already have sandro,Parker, siggy, dembele, Dempsey, Townsend, Carroll who can cover middle of the park??

EngNor December 30, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Maybe in the summer as Parker is in the twilight of his career and Mr Hudds has just not the pace or ball for a MF battle. However, what we do need right now is, a playmaker and striker of quality. COYS!
