Arsene Wenger is a moth wallet!

Are you happy with your clubs business in the transfer market?

The last day of the transfer window is a very dull day if you’re an Arsenal fan. 5 hours and not a single player mentioned.

Man United, Man City, Stoke, Everton, Hull & even Blackpool have all signed players, yet old moth wallet chose to spend nothing, again.

Moth Wenger

So when Arsenal director Danny Fizsman said Wenger has 30 million to spend what did he actually mean?

“If he said ‘I want this guy and he’s £30m, can I buy him?’, the answer is yes. Absolutely yes,” revealed Fizsman. “It’s not our decision who he spends money on, nor will it ever be ours.”

Fizsman also added: “There were great expectations and hopes that we would buy heavily this summer. “We totally back Wenger, it’s his decision. If Arsene found the right player he would buy that player, but at the moment he hasn’t.”

There was the usual speculation including Gareth Barry, Xabi Alonso, Miguel Veloso and even Jimmy Bullard who was allegedly seen at the Arsenal training ground, but alas, it was all paper talk.

With Manchester City threatening to break up the top 4, you would have thought Arsenal would have added to their squad.

It’s all been a bit quiet on the Chelsea front too. So today has seen 2 big signings, are you happy with the business you’re club has done or are you just as disappointed half of North London?

only a fool would judge Arsenal after two games, all be it two very bad ones. Wenger knows the score, he will sign 1 more player before September 6th, our injuries would have cleared up and we should be back on track.

🙂 I do agree with you on Eboue though

Wenger seems just like Martin O’Neill- they both seem scared to spend big money in the transfer market in case it doesnt come off. Arsenal only need a couple of quality players and they would be the most feared team in the country. Wenger’s refusal to spend big or spend at all, will just cause more of his young gems to leave and a larger rebuilding process would have to happen at the end of that.
The really big teams know that the time to spend big is on the back of success. Wenger has let this slip and soon will have to replace half a team.

exactly, I remember George Graham making the same mistake after we won that dramatic title at Anfield, he refused to strengthen the squad which cost us dear and put us back 6 years. We are in danger of this happening to us if tight ars Wenger doesn’t but quality. Just because Reyes didn’t work out it doesn’t mean all big money players will fail, in the same way he got lucky with Viera, Clichy & co, not all those bargains will make it.

Another season without success and Fabregas will be playing for Real where he can win trophies.

As for Villa, the future is very bright, they have some genuine excellent players, a few big signings and they will knocking on the big door with the number 4

  • Stevie

unbelievable, what a waste of 5 hours, I’ve bored or hearing about Berbatov and bloody Robiniho!!

  • http://www.ukfootballfinder.co.uk Darren

yep, I to sat glued to Sky Sports news last night, watching the same image of Berbatwat walking through a door with 4 people cheering in the background.

Not a dicking bird about us, bloody embarrassing.

  • tef1on

i feel sick… Mr Wenger… maybe it really is time to get your coat?

  • Parks numero uno

Im not an Arsenal fan but I am surprised at the lack of activity from Arsens Wenger.

Arsenal dont have a large enough squad to challenge for the Champions League and the League, if they have 2 or 3 players out injured they will struggle badly.

  • Tef1on

We already are struggling badly. Its a joke, even the other arsenal fans are concerened. I woke up to 8 texts on my phone expressing major worry for Arsenal… This are serious now! if we dont buy in January i can see wenger going.

  • http://www.ukfootballfinder.co.uk Darren

i don’t get it, there’s to much riding on poor old of 22 year old Fabregas’s head. We have 1 recognized center midfielder, even when Diarby is fit that’s still not good a good enough pairing for my liking. Denilson is way to lightweight as proven when he was mugged up by Danny Murphy & Jimmy Bullard. Eboue is shite as we all know. Fran Medarda will be good in 3 years but I’m seriously starting to think Wenger is losing his touch. We can’t have enough season without winning anything otherwise even more players will leave. Then we’ll be a middle of the table club like the Spuds. (being kind to them)

We could of signed anyone, an experienced midfielder on loan, we didn’t have to spend 30 million. I’m sick too, what a waste of an evening!

Wenger is actually in danger of ruining all the hard work over the last 10 years. I can see us dropping out of the top 4, the Champions League if he doesn’t learn from last years mistakes.

Give it a few weeks and the old ‘Get your chequebook out’ song from George Graham’s era will be back, MMW!!!!

  • Tef1on

Darren… We sang that song at Fulham for a good 10 minutes. But scoring 4 vs a shockingly poor Twente and 3 past a dire Newcastle disillusions people. For us to spend big we needed to lose 2 or 3 in a row.

  • http://www.ukfootballfinder.co.uk Darren

really? I didn’t hear it, although I wasnt’t there, was busy nursing my injured neck, which actually sounded like more fun!

How’s your pre-season going? Are going to enter the ML cup? There’s a post in the forum, a bloke called Barry, we played his side beat them 5-1. Be great if we drew you in the group stages!!

  • James Webb

I must admit I was a bit surprised to wake up this morning without making one more signing. We usually are the last to close for business. Berba’s undoubted quality and goals where outweighed by his temperament and total lack of respect for his fellow players and club. I can see Fergie regretting spending so much on a player who could quite easily upset the apple-cart at another English club. He expects to be put on a pedestal and with the likes of rooney and ronaldo he will be well down the pecking order. Its only a matter of time before the tantrums start.

I would like to thank Man City for bumping up Berba’s price. I was expecting 25mil but United had no option to match City’s 30mil + bid. Also for City to steal Robinho under the noses of chelsea was superb. My chelsea mates where going on about him all weekend, funny I have not heard a peep out of them today. lol

As for our signings throughout the summer on paper we have made some decent ones and sold some mediocre players so we have to be relatively happy. It will be interesting to see how well the likes of Modric, Pavlyuchenko and Gio actually do in the PL but they cannot do much worse than what we have sold. Corluka and Bentley are proven PL players and will be better than Chimbonda and Malbranque who we flogged to sunderland. Gomes looks like the keeper we have been missing since Thorsvedt left. Walker, Keller, Robinson etc just never looked safe. Gomes is a very big presence who commands his back four. If he fulfills his potential he will be as good as Cech.

The last thing is we have spent close to 70 million this summer and bought in 80 million. We have lost some decent players but overall I think our squad is stronger. We have also lost our 2 biggest earners in Keano and Berba so the wage bill is down as well. Just goes to show that you can balance the books and make positive signings, something I am sure Arsenal fans if they are totally honest are a little bit jealous of.

  • Tef1on

    @ Darren

Our pre season has been shocking. We have had 3 friendlies cancelled due to the other team being unable to field a side (I think they were scared) We have played 2 games, Drew one 4-4 and lost one 4-0… the one we lost we dominated but gave a silly Penalty away, then all we could do was attack and they caught us on the break. Will look into that Cup today… Our season starts later this month though.

  • http://www.ukfootballfinder.co.uk Darren

I’m with you James, Bertatov is a superb player but a total pre-madona, he was very hot and cold, no room for twats like that. I must admit, SPurs have done some brilliant business. Keane will be missed but he was fast approaching his 30th birthday, the others were very average so all in you are stronger. And yes I am jealous, I’m just hoping we get someone on loan at least. We urgently need a center midfielder to replace Flamini. A 4th season without a trophy won’t go down well.

Ps: James, you guys should enter the ML cup too. Go to the forum, the guys number is in there.
pps: Telflon, if u can get to Palace we’ll give you a friendly if ya like? In fact, do u have flood lights? We’d come to you for a midweek game if you’re up for it

  • http://www.ukfootballfinder.co.uk Darren

I read in the Metro that Arsenal put in a last minute £14 bid for Alonso, Liverpool turned it down as Barry wasn’t signing for them Why leave it so late? We could of signed him weeks ago!!
