Mario Balotelli will complete his transfer back to AC Milan in ‘the next few hours’ according to Tuttosport.
The fee is believed to be worth around £18m with Milan still open to a loan offer till the end of the season. However, the fee could be paid in installments up until 2017.
The 22 year-old who has had a strained relationship with Roberto Mancini and previous coach Jose Mourinho has not figured frequently for Manchester City this season and has only one league goal to his name all season.
Balotelli will take a sizeable pay cut to around £4m a year for the move but is keen to return to his homeland of Milan before the transfer window deadline this Thursday.
David Platt has repeatedly said that he has not heard of any deals for the Italian striker but it seems that the deal is already in motion.
City boss Roberto Mancini has praised and criticised the Italian striker in equal measure at his time at City and said after his sending off at Arsenal last season: “I’ve finished my words for him. I’ve finished. I hope, for him, he can understand that he’s in a bad way for his future. And he can change his behaviour in the future. But I’m finished.”
The soap opera of City and Balloteli looks to be coming to a close, although many thought it would be completed before this January transfer window.
