While discussing his future in football, David Beckham has played down reports that he will move back to England to finish his playing career.

Those who bet on soccer will note how the former England captain is out of contract at LA Galaxy this month, meaning that a move to a new club could be on the cards.

Many feel that Beckham will end his five-year stint in Major League Soccer having won the MLS Cup with Galaxy for the first time this week. It is thought that he is keen to go out on a high.

Given Beckham’s profile, this means that he is bound to be linked with every club under the sun, including several Premier League teams.

However, speaking today, the former Manchester United man said it would be ‘weird’ to play anywhere other than Old Trafford.

The 36-year-old said: “I played for the biggest club in England and couldn’t see myself playing in another English shirt.”

“Talking of playing in England I have always said that unless it was for Man United I would feel weird.”

“It is the club as a boy I always wanted to play for, I always wanted to start my career there and finish it there.

“Obviously I moved away to go Real Madrid, but I am still a Man United fan so playing for another club would be weird and I don’t think that will happen – but who knows.”

“I’ve got options, which is amazing at my age. A couple of big European clubs are after me. I have a decision to make and I haven’t made it yet.”

One possibility is to remain in America of course. Most people seem to think that it is certain he will end his time in the USA, but Beckham said signing a new deal with LA Galaxy is one of his options.

He continued: “I might still be here next year playing. I need to sit down with friends and family and decide what’s best for me.”

“I have enjoyed everywhere I have played and it doesn’t matter where I finish my career.”

French club Paris St-Germain are another club that have shown a firm interestgiving Beckham the chance to play in France having had stints in England, Spain, Italy and America.

Wherever he goes, you just know it will be followed with interest. You also know that he will give his all.

As for returning to England, there are many people that would like it to happen, but he will only do this if the right offer comes in. The last thing he wants to do is move back to the Premier League only for things not to work out.

What would you do if you were in Beckham’s shoes?
