It’s official; Blackburn is the thrill-seeking capital of Britain. Blackburn Rovers are the team most likely to get the pulses racing too. According to top psychologist Dr David Lewis that is.

Despite playing a long ball game and scoring just 40 goals and finishing 15th Rovers are the most exciting team in the Premier League.

The Lancashire outfit are not known for playing attracting football but somehow managed to beat the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal to the of a league table that measures fans’ tension levels.

The high tension scores were put down to the team’s frustrating performances on the pitch and failure to meet expectations.

‘Fans are willing their team out of the mid table comfort zone, causing tension levels to increase more than fans of top clubs who expect their team to win and are therefore calmer’ said Dr Lewis.

The scores were taken by the Wrigley’s Extra research team who measured the heart rate and levels of cortisol- a stress hormone – among supporters of all 20 Premier League clubs.

Some fans’ pulse rates hit 132 beats per minute during games, five shy of those expected from a rollercoaster ride.

The study didn’t go all Rovers way, with Man United fans’ heart rates staying highest for the longest after games, probably due to the long train ride back to London.

i hate Blackburn, ever since they knocked welling out of the Fa Cup in 1990 with a dubious over the line decision, shortly before we help collapse the stand behind the goal. 4000 were there that day. Magic!
