Dexy Says

This week’s Longshot comes in at a handsome 9-1 for a 2 horse race which in my little black book is always worth a nicker. The winning horse this week though, will be wearing the claret and blue of West Ham and nudging the West End Chelsea boys into 2nd place by a nose (even if it is Avram’s conk.)

You may mock but I’ve been looking at the form and I reckon an upset may be on the cards. Granted, Grants mob have given the Hammers a good hiding in nearly every game since they came back up from the fizzy league but Curb’s boys have a knack of showing up for the big games. Just look at last season’s results against Man U and the Gooners in their own back yards. Chelsea narrowly beat them with a Geremi banana-esque free kick last time out to win 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. A few other factors have got me well fired up for this East v West London kick off this weekend. Revenge, pride, strength, muscle, not afraid to go in where it hurts with all guns blazing and that’s before the supporters get to the bridge, aay aay, I’ll ave yer!

Nah, seriously, look at Chelsea. They whipped poor Rosenburg on Wednesday night so it’s a short time to recover before the early KO on Sat. Also, bad boy Essien is again on the sidelines for three games after giving a back-hander to Kenny Miller last week. Essien has been superb so far this season but his influence in the middle of the park will be sorely missed. Drogba may be rested as has been the case on numerous occasions this season and Kalou, Sheva and Pizarro are hardly on fire while Cudicini is no Cech (who is?).

Meanwhile, West Ham have been pretty good on their travels this season, recently holding Harry’s boys to a draw down in Portsmouth and their mauling of Derby gave them their biggest away win for donkeys years spanking them for five, ouch!. They have Robert Green, who is in form of his life as well (more on Greeno next week). Ashton came on for the last 20 against the front wheel skids last Sunday and may start.

The biggest thing West Ham have got over the Blues (and I don’t mean in the showers) is Carlton Cole or Carlton Cruyff, as he’s starting to show of late. Two months ago, big Carlton couldn’t hit a barn door in his first few outings for the Irons but he is deffo a man in form now. His confidence is growing in every game and he showed some saucy movement around Robbo’s box last Sunday that was reminiscent of the Dutch master himself. Carlton has got most assists this season along with Fabregas on six even though he’s had a lot less time on the pitch and couple of goals to boot.

Carlton’s around 5-1 to score anytime on Saturday (that doesn’t include down the Kings Road later that night). He would love to get one over on his old club and I fancy him to have another blinder. Carlton for England anyone? Well he’s a better bet than Bent at the mo, maybe we are looking at the new Heskey!

The new Heskey?

Get on the 9-1 for a proper East End knees-up.

As a Spurs fan I’m totally gutted that we missed out on Carlton Cole, lol he is worth more than Darren ‘over rated’ Bent.

Saucy movement around Robbo’s box? Filth. There are kids reading this. They don’t want references to people sliding in from behind, probing the back marker with long balls or lobbing one over the keeper. Enough I say! Clean up football for all the family! let’s go back to the good old days of communal baths, genuinely hard men and Nobby slipping one to Bestie. Ee, young people today….disgusting!
