Martin Jol is preparing an £8m bid to sign highly-rated Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila reports The Daily Mirror.
The signing of M’Vila would undoubtedly be Fulham’s second transfer coup of the season, having signed Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov for £5m in the summer.
However, QPR are also interested in M’Vila and have made an £8.5m bid which has been rejected writes leParisien.
A transfer triumph over mega-rich rivals Queen’s Park Rangers would surely improve morale in the Fulham camp which is low following the disappointing 1-1 draw with Wigan on Saturday.
The French international,22, has been heavily linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and QPR as a move to the Premier League inevitably draws nearer. M’Vila has recently spoken of his desire to leave Rennes and spoke to Sky Sports about the situation nine days ago. He said:
“If the club receive a good offer and I like the destination then I will go, there is no doubt about that.
“Until that happens, nothing can be said.”
M’Vila, who has won 22 caps for France, has put off a number of clubs with his attitude and off the pitch controversy, including when he went on a night out with fellow under-21 players before a crucial game against Norway in November 2012. M’Vila, Wissam Ben Yeder, Chris Mavinga and M’Baye Yiang were all subsequently slapped with bans by the French Football Federation.
Jol has busily been preparing Fulham for a strong second half season finish with reports by The Daily Mail linking Tottenham’s utility man Tom Huddlestone with a move to Craven Cottage.
However, with contract talks breaking down in recent days Jol is now in for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder and is ready to pay up.
