Is this the worst refereeing decision of all time?

German second division side MSV Duisburg could not believe their luck when the worst referee decision of all time went their way during a 5-0 victory over FSV Frankfurt .

Duisburg were bizarrely awarded their fifth goal when Christian Tiffert lobbed the keeper from 22 yards, the ball came crashing of the bar and almost hit the 5 yard line, but the linesman flagged and the referee gave the goal.

The Frankfurt team were so gob smacked by the decision that they have told the fans whoever can emulate the phantom goal will get free entry into their next home game.

What a joke, bring the on techno!,
it’s not as bads as Freddie Sear’s goal that actually went in and rolled back out and wasn’t given. I think The Medndes goal that never was is up there as well.

Anyone remember Mark Hughes “scoring” for Southampton at the Dell about a decade ago? He hit the ball with customary force, it went in, but bounced off the advertising board behind the goal and back into play, and the ref waved play on.

Also, the Frankfurt keeper is wearing a snood. Everyone’s wearing them now (Casillas, Reina, Buffon to name but three).

I couldn’t find the Hughes goal on YouTube but let me know if you have better luck.

Agreed on snoods. Let’s hope they go the way of alice bands and those nose clips Robbie Fowler introduced.
