NPL Reserves 2 – The Irons 6

It seems to becoming the 11th Commandment -“Thou shalst give your opponents a two goal lead” as yet again the The Irons did just that for the 3rd week running and this time after just 15 minutes !!! NPL came out all guns blazing and their second goal was certainly a bullet from 40 yards though legend will say 60!! An absolute screamer. However there was no panic and the Ironsides soon got going. Once they made their possession count after 20 mins, it was literally one way traffic. Ryan “Frankie Lampard” Freeman set up Alves-Silva with a deft touch to reduce the defecit after 19 minutes. Then Alves-Silva set up Lampthy with two great chances the first of which should have been buried with bells on!. The equaliser three minutes before half time was as certain as Sunday following Saturday and involved the inspiring Coufie snatching a close range effort after good work from Lampthy.

The second half was all one way traffic and Freeman was again involved after 55 minutes with another superb pass to find Lampthy who battled his way to a decisive third goal. Shortly after NPL could have equalised with their one effort -a superb free kick which was met with a vital full stretch save from Woodmansey(would have helped to banish the demons from last week) . Lampthy sealed his brace with the help of Alves-Silva in the 62 minute before a twice taken penalty and another hat trick goal from the same after 82 minutes sealed a comfortable win.

Yet the Man of the Match was debutant, Omar Kante who was absolute solid in everything he touched and surveyed. It was a perfect performance within a team that at times played perfect football. However the Ironsides must kill their imperfections to make the progress they are capable of. And next week vs Trinity, divine intervention will be needed if they start as they did this week.
