Championship

Oi oi ! Dexy’s back one more time for my Championship predictions. This one is tighter than UKFF’s payment scheme and it could be anyone’s this year which will make for one of the most exciting and passionate for years. Here’s a quick rundown of who i think will be the top 6 in early May in reverse order.

Bristol City

Drawing at Colchester and going 2-0 down to Palace has not helped Bristol’s title charge of late. They have kept only 3 clean sheets this season and i think an automatic spot is beyond them, unless their new Australian striker Nick Carle can come to the rescue.

Prediction 6th

Watford

Sorry Hornets but I think new acquisition Nathan “The Duke” Ellington is a fine championship striker but at the expense of Marlon King and the loss of Shittu in the African Nations, I think Watford will drop a few points in the next month allowing The Eagles and Addicks to leapfrog them by March.

Prediction 5th

Stoke

Stoke have a strong side as they showed Big Sam in the first leg of The FA cup which pretty much gave him the slingers. They we’re a bit disappointing in the replay but i think they may be worth a look at for a play-off place. Leon Cort is having a good spell at the moment and i think they will definitely be up there.

Prediction 4th

Charlton

Gawd knows how Pards has done it but despite only 2 wins at The Valley since September, the Addicks are still 6th. I can see them getting back on track in the next couple of months. They have plenty of games at home against the promotion chasers around them and i think they have a good chance if they get to the play-offs. Pards has been there before with the Hammers. In fact it could be a repeat of the 2004 play-off final if he faces the Eagles again.

Prediction 3rd

Palace

In just a few months. Neil Warnock has transformed The Tango mans Palace from Championship bottom dwellers to hard to beat genuine league champs. The Eagles are 5th souring into the play-off places on the back of a 15 game league run. It wouldn’t surprise me if they get automatic promotion the way Colin W**ker is firing them up. They have plenty of young talent coming through like Barca target John Bostock and Matt Lawrence who has had Warnock drooling, what a horrible thought! The Premiership is certainly a duller place without the Yorkshire man.

Prediction 2nd

WBA

It’s commonly accepted that Tony Mobreys side are playing the best football in the league but if i was him, i’d keep looking over my shoulder, there are only 7 points separating the top 6. They nearly let Cardiff take all 3 points before equalizing through a Roger Johnson deflection. Zolten Gera may be on the move as well, this will be a blow for the Baggies, I think he is a pucka player and they should move heaven and earth to keep him. If i was in charge, he would be first name on the sheet every week! Up front, weasel face Kevin Phillips is scoring more than Russell Brand at the mo and as long as he stays injury free, WBA should grab one of the 2 automatic spots.
