Redknapp looking to bolster strikeforce as season approaches

After weeks of very little activity, there looks to be some big signings around the corner for Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur as the North London club go in search of Champions League football once more next season.

There is little doubt Redknapp needs to bolster his attacking line up if he is to keep up with the likes of Manchester City – who look set to spend big on Atletico’s Sergio Aguero – and Liverpool who have splashed out on the likes of Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson in recent weeks.

Spurs open their Premiership campaign at White Hart Lance against Everton, with bookmakers free bets offers available at around 4/5 for Spurs, while Everton are 3/1 to take all three points.

It comes as no surprise that most paper talk are linking a whole host of European strikers with a move to White Hart Lane today.

Perhaps the most credible of these rumours is reported by, who suggest Roma’s Mirko Vucinic could be making his way to North London in a £15 million move as early as next week.

The Serbian fits the mould of a Redknapp style forward; he has good pace and is as equally quick of mind as he is with the ball at his feet.

Another who it might be worth backing to join Spurs before the start of the season is Barcelona outcast Ibrahim Afellay, whom the Catalan club would be willing to let leave this summer after he failed to make his way into the first team.

The former PSV Eindhoven midfielder would be an excellent addition to Spurs’s midfield, especially if Luka Modric leaves, and is being chased by a range of other Premier League clubs, although Tottenham remain favourites to land him.

While those two rumours have more than an ounce of truth to them rumours linking Hamburg’s Paulo Guerrero and Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente hould most likely be ignored after both club’s dropped strong hints that not only had they yet to receive an offer from Spurs, but that they would also be unwilling to let the players go.
