Inter on course

By Glezos Alberganti, La Settimana Sportiva

Inter Milan, business as usual. What a bore. The Italian media greeted Inter’s 2-0 win over Fiorentina. Zlatan Ibrahimovich returned to his majestic self, and sealed the game with two goals. Then Josè Mourinho stole the act, as he was sent off by the ref in the final minutes for screaming abuse after a hideous foul on his beloved wonder kid Santon.

Juventus stay in second place, with an easy win over struggling Bologna. After going one-nil down in the first half, the Bianconeri came back in the
second half scoring four goals, with a brace courtesy of Alex Del Piero. The gap with Inter remains intact, and seven points look enough for Mourinho to feel confident in his team’s fourth consecutive title. Next saturday Juventus will play a difficult away game against Roma, and Inter will play at San Siro with relegation candidates Reggina.

AC Milan 5-1 win at Siena was almost unexpected: Inzaghi scored another brace, but the bad news came from the injuries of goalie Abbiati and star
midfielder Kakà. Both are expected to stay out quite a while. Fiorentina lost to Inter, while Genoa grasped an all-important win at Cagliari in their
Champions League campaign.

Torino lost again with Atalanta (0-2), while Chievo is the surprise of the day with an outstanding away win at Lazio (3-0). The relegation battle
includes Reggina (1-1 against Napoli), Chievo, Bologna, Torino and Lecce, who were hammered by Palermo (2-5). Italians love to say ‘Every game is a
Cup Final’. With 9 games to go, it will be.

what I would like to know is why do these players (Ibrahimovich, Inzaghi & co) seem to score loads of goals in Serie A but are crap in the Champions League…
