One hand on the title

By Glezos Alberganti, La Settimana Sportiva

Inter have one hand on their 17th league title after the Nerazzurri’s draw
against Juventus in the Italian Derby. In a sold out Olympic Stadium,
Mourinho’s men played with authority: wonder kid Mario Balotelli played a
sumptous game and scored a magnificent goal, and got Juventus’ frustrated
midfielder Tiago sent off. Though in control, Inter failed to take home
three points thanks to a late equalizer by Juventus defender Grygera, who
scored in injury time. With six games to go and a 10-point advantage, the
Scudetto race seems over, as Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri and goalkeeper Gigi Buffon admitted: Inter are superior to us: they have strenghth and quality, while we only have heart.

Milan AC had an easy game against Torino. It was a good game for Prodigal
Son David Beckham and especially for Pippo Inzaghi, who scored a hat-trick.
The Rossoneri joined Juventus in second place, and in a couple of weeks the
two teams will play each other in a very intense game at San Siro. The
surprise of the day was Genoa’s home defeat by the hands of a revitalized
Lazio: striker Zarate sealed a very important win for the Biancocelesti, and
Lazio are now riding high on their quest for a UEFA Cup place.

Roma struggled in a difficult game against Lecce (3-2), while Udinese came back after the recent UEFA Cup elimination with an outstanding
win against Fiorentina (3-1).

In the relegation zone, Bologna registered another defeat against Palermo
(4-1). Torino and Lecce lost, and Reggina’s surprise away win over Atalanta
gives the Amaranto some hope in view of the remaining six games, the first
of which will be at home against Juventus next Sunday.
