Jose wins another title

By Glezos Alberganti, La Settimana Sportiva

After a week of speculations about Mourinho’s future, Serie A 2008-09
Champions Inter went to Cagliari for what looked almost like a training
session: the Nerazzurri lost 2-1, Ibrahimovic scored his 23rd goal in his
best season and then let mid table Cagliari run away with three deserved
points. Inter kept their 10-point gap in the table, as Juventus joined AC
Milan at second place. Juve won an easy game at Siena (3-0). It was the
first game for new coach Ciro Ferrara, after last week’s controversial sack
of Claudio Tinkerman Ranieri.

Milan lost at home against Roma (2-3) a game wich was intended as a
testimonial to retiring skipper Paolo Maldini (901 games in the red and
black shirt).Celebration turned into disaster, as Francesco Totti’s free
kick goal sealed the game for the Giallorossi, and Paolo Maldini’s honour
lap took place in a very tense atmosphere, with abuse from large sections of
Milan’s faithful and angry words and gestures from Maldini himself.
Fiorentina’s late equaliser at Lecce (1-1) set the scene for next Sunday’s
final clash for a Champions League place between the Viola and AC Milan:
Fiorentina had the chance to take 3rd but drew away to Lecce, which saved Milan having to play a dangerous first qualifying round in late august.

With Reggina and Lecce already relegated, Bologna drew at Chievo (0-0), and
Torino lost at home to Genoa (2-3, with Inter new signing Diego Milito
scoring twice -his 21st goal of the season). For one of the two teams -both
at 34 points- the last 90 minutes will mean heaven or hell.
