Steven Taylor for England

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes that Steven Taylor deserves an England call up.

The 25-year-old centre back has been in oustanding form in a Magpies defence that has kept three clean sheets and only conceded two goals in five games.

“Steven Taylor is probably playing the best football of his career for me,” said Pardew. “I think he has a chance of being involved in England again. I think the management should come and have a look at him, he’s doing that well. He is a good player, Steven.”

Pardew took a thinly veiled swipe at the England selection process, adding: “I do see a tendency of players to be picked else where rather than in the North East. Steven Taylor is definitely playing at a level where he should be considered.

I also cold heartedly agree that Taylor deserves to be called into the England team after his recent string of performances. Though I have to question the motives of Pardew wanting to get Taylor into the England squad. I sincerely hope it is for the confidence of the player, which would enable him to then get a feel of playing football at the highest quality, rather than the other option.

This option would be for him and Ashley to add England International to his title and to see his price tag rocket very much like Gary Cahill’s did back in the summer transfer market.

But overall I do believe that Taylor has performed well enough to be selected for his country as long as the niggling injuries keep at bay, and thoroughly think he needs a call up and what better time than against Montenegro early next month.

Never mind Taylor although he was always on the radar after the performances 5 years ago at under21 level. What about Pards for England????
