NPL 1 Battersea Ironsides GSA 6

From the moment Ironsides arrived 90 minutes before kick off and gained a psychological march by stealing the Home sides dressing room, things were looking good. By any measure this was a much more convincing performance and one that built on the emphatic scoring record of the Ironsides -that’s 19 goals in a hat trick of victories. But it was a piece of magic on the stroke of half time by Maye that restored Ironsides lead. Earlier Lampthy finished a fine move to put Ironsides ahead but the home side equalised with a stunning shot -their only one of real note.

The second half was much better with De Almeida leading the front line for the first time and giving a virtuoso performance. He was unstoppable and earned the MOM Award via his two strikes and two excellent assists. Perhaps a tad hard on Lampthy who hit his second hat trick in as many weeks and even the returning Barretto who linked up defence with attack nicely on the left.

The key is to build on this excellent performance in the coming weeks and the signs are there that they will do just that.
