Today, I am embarrassed to be a football fan

I honestly thought I’d never again hear monkey chants directed at a black player during a football match outside of backwards Eastern European nations.

But at Porto’s ground last night, I heard, loud and clear, Porto fans making monkey noises whenever Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli was involved in the action.

What kind of morons are these people? Did they not realise that the most famous player in Portuguese football history, Eusebio, was black? Did they not realise that their golascorer last night, Varela, was black? That at least five of their players were black? Are they really that stupid? Unfortunately I suspect they are. My brother-in-law is Portuguese and is one of the most racist people I have had the misfortune to meet. It’s something about the Iberian mentality.

Football fans have had a bad press recentlty. Last night’s events have only made it worse. It’s time to take a stand against this filth – ban Porto from European competition for the next 5 years. Hit them quickly and hit them hard. They must not be allowed to get away with this.

“The Iberian mentality” Thats a bit of a judgemental comment. Around here, we find the English to be more racist then ” those people” My brother in law is from Manchester, and choses to call my neighbours “Spics”, the store owner down the street “Paki”, and yet “those people get clumped together because of their race…Interesting! It is a personal opnion, not the opnion of a whole country! Besides, it seems half the people in Portugal’s national team are black, and same goes for there population. Nobody deserves to be treated poorly or grouped together because of a small minority! I wonder what I’m called when I’m not around, Mr Chinese, Mr Spainsh, Mr Portuguese, Mr Italian……Or the guy of mixed race?????????????????????
