The Premier League began in 1992-93 so I thought I would see who had won what domestic trophies in that time. The Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup have been covered and I have also thrown our European competition winning managers in to the mix to find the best 10 managers in the history of the Premier League.

7) Ruud Gullit – Chelsea/Newcastle

Glenn Hoddle (a mention for an Englishman!!!!) put the wheels in motion at Chelsea when he signed the brilliant Gullit for Chelsea. Hoddle left for England and Gullit took over at the Bridge. He seemed born for management and eased in to the role. He led Chelsea to the FA Cup and to the League Cup, playing “sexy football”. He then went on to manage Newcastle where he seemed to struggle and then returned to his home land. He can be seen as a pundit on Sky’s Champions League coverage. However, his managerial career has begun again as he has recently taken the LA Galaxy managers position.

Gullit? Hmmm…maybe we haven’t seen the best of him, just like we never know if Dalglish or Robson can bring success to Newcastle. But especially for this man, he did a BIG mistake when he put Shearer on the bench while Newcastle playing against the macKems. If he didn’t do that his managerial career at Newcastle may be long enough.
