By any definition possible, the standard of play and the players at the UKFF Charities Cup on Saturday 23rd June , was exceptional.

The invited players each represented a Charity namely the London Coaching Foundation, Communities First Foundation and the BMETV Charitable Foundation.

Representatives from non-league and those associated with professional football clubs were in attendance and they were equally impressed.

With regards to the Tournament each match was closely contested with one match being decided on a penalty shoot out SUDDEN MISS format ie the first team to miss lost the match and that is what cost the team representing BMETV a place in the Final. Ashley Young and Ashley Cole have soulmates at UKFF.

The final was high paced and  high quality  involving the AFC Wimbledon bound Centre Half Bondon of Communities First and the Herta Berlin departed Davies of the London Coaching Foundation. The final also involved players who have played in the Division 1 in Sweden, Portugal , Ireland, France & Angola. The standard showed why. A word to for Ed Peace who due to injury in the first match had to withdraw and thus missed out on a Gold Medal and a chance to impress. However with the Director of Football coming out of retirement to fill in, the saying that class is permanent was proved once again.

Communities First beat The London Coaching Foundation 2-1 to secure the Charities Cup in a very enjoyable affair.

Cheers Mike, shame about the injury… turns out I’ve got damage to my membrane on my shin after a heavy and heavily clumsy tackle from the forward. Shame, I would have liked another trophy to add to the collection!
