Why Chelsea Will Blow the Premier League to Pieces Next Season

Why Chelsea will blow the Premier League to pieces.

For the foundations of why Chelsea will win the Premier League this season it is important to analyse what their starting line up next season could potentially be:

P Cech (30), A Cole (31), G Cahill (26), J Terry (31), G van der Wiel (24), F Lampard (33), M Essien (29), J Mata (24), E Hazard (21), M Marin (23), F Torres (28)

This team would have an average age of 27.7. An age that many would say is in its prime. The shackles of the squad ‘past it’ are removed due to the influx of youthful talented players such as Hazard and Marin, combined with the departure of old players such as Kalou, Malouda and Bosingwa means that this Chelsea team will only be stronger.

However the loss of Drogba cannot be ignored. How can you replace a player who not only averaged 0.44 goals per game, but also scored in so many decisive finals? Especially when his replacement, Torres, has averaged for Chelsea just 0.15 goals per game.

Nonetheless there are reasons why the loss of Drogba should not concern Chelsea fans. Owner Abramovich has recognised he needs to refresh this Chelsea team. And he has, acting quickly to sign Hazard, and possibly Hulk. Hazard will set the league alight next year as the small, technically gifted players such as Mata and Silva are having more of an impact on the league.

Some people may counter argue this by saying that both Hazard and Hulk are not central strikers. But Chelsea has Drogba 2.0, Lukaku. Apart from a mere half-inch the two players are almost physically identical. If Lukaku can just hone in his technical ability, he can become the clone of Drogba for Chelsea, and transfer his form from the Belgium league (0.45 goals per game) into the Premier League, then he will be a big hit.

For Chelsea to ‘blow the Premier League to pieces’, the fellow title challenger’s chances need to be assessed. Immediately Tottenham and Arsenal need to be written off. Neither team has a chance of claiming the title with the squads available, and if they do I will gladly eat a blended item of clothing. The serious title challenger’s are the two Manchester clubs, and they wont win the league this year.

Manchester City will not win the title this year for two crucial reasons. For starters, City’s centre backs are not good enough to win the title again; of course Vincent Kompany is exceptional. But Lescott is a liability, Toure, only 31, has diminished substantially as a player and Stefan Savic is a terrible footballer. Also, they also will not win the league because they haven’t had to defend a title before, and looking at that team it is difficult to see any players that have won multiple league titles. This factor will hinder City greatly and contribute to the title going to West London come May 2013.

Manchester United will not win the league next season because their team is not strong enough either. The obvious flaw for United is their midfield. Anderson (injury prone) and Nani are not consistent enough, and Giggs and Scholes are far too old to compete with Chelsea’s new look midfield.

Chelsea will win the league comprehensively next season, and breach the 90-point mark.

I chelsea should be able to win the league in the coming season. But chelsea should sign a reasmnable coach who is capable of selecting the best eleven when needed.

Re Adebayo: I agree. I also think Abramovich is just building a team for Guardiola next season but trying to get him this summer.

    “old players like Kalou…”

Was this is a serious comment? Kalou is still young, this article was dead from that line onwards.

Re AreYouSerious: old players refers not necessarily age but also time at the club (6 years). May interest you to know I am not a Chelsea. This article doesn’t totally reflect my opinion. I don’t think we can tell who will win to the end of the transfer window.
