Why Leeds United won’t be playing Premiership football next season

Faltering Whites finally run out of steam?

After yet another disappointing display today Leeds United have won just one of their last six games heading into the final 4 games of the season. At the minute they are playing like a team threatened with relegation rather than one destined for the premier league. Every fan has their own opinion on why this has happened mine is a pretty simple one, there is not enough championship experience in this team and at times they are too naive for their own good, for example Robert Snodgrass and Luciano Becchio two of the Leeds star players have never played at this level. Both are still learning how to cope on this stage with all the attention and focus that the players get it can’t be easy and at times it probably unsettles them. Another reason is the defence it is simply not good enough, there isn’t a natural leader at the back and it shows as there is no communication between the centre backs, neither full backs are consistent performers and as for Kasper Schmeichel he has been making mistakes all season at pivotal moments however the one thing that saves him is his incredible reflexes and ability between the sticks which is why people rate him as one of the best keepers outside the premiership.

Leeds can draw from previous experiences of coming back after a poor run of form, you only have to go back as far as last season. At Christmas everything was looking great with Leeds clear at the top of league one but after the famous victory at Old Trafford against Man United things went south they suffered defeats at the hands of Swindon and Exeter but when it came down to the final seven games they won five of them to claim promotion. This time however they now have a four game mini season in which I believe they need three wins to be guaranteed a play-off place. But as they have the hardest run in out of the play-off contenders that could be asking just a little too much and should they miss out they can only have themselves to blame as dropped points against Barnsley and derby to name a couple are the reason that they aren’t closer to the automatic places.

However I am sure that if you offered any Leeds fan this position at the start of the season they would of snatched your hand off but now as we near the end some are beginning to call for the sacking of Grayson which is completely ludicrous as without that man they wouldn’t be where they are today. For these final four games Grayson will have them fired up as he wants to take his boyhood club back to the big time, so yes they aren’t performing at their best at the moment but I am confident they will be able to secure that play-off place and challenge for promotion.

a month ago I would have said Leeds & Forest are favourites for automatic promotion, now it’s looking like Reading who are on an amazing run.

Leeds should just make the play offs but Forest have blown it big time

As a Leeds fan it’s been a great season, realy enjoyed it,but lets’s be honest that the defence and the team as a whole has not defended very well,McCartney has been very poor considering he is mean’t to be a premeir league player,Naylor,Bromby,Connelly,Parker, just havn’t got that little bit extra to compete in the top six of the championship, still think leeds will be in top six at the end MOT!!!

That just about sums it up, no leader whatsoever. The team had far, far more pressure on them at this point last season as they HAD to get promoted, this time it’d be an incredible end to a very good season.

Should we make the play-offs we’d probably be rank outsiders for the first time and other than the usual expectation of playing for Leeds, there’d be very little pressure to succeed – stranger things have happened…

No chance of playoffs im afraid as the defence isnt good enough – I cant see us even finishing seventh perhaps if Kisnorbo had been available this season we would now be in 2nd.

Leeds will be lucky to scrape into playoffs. Our defence has been shocking all season. How we’ve got to this stage of season & still in with a chance of promotion is anybody’s guess!? Today was same old story. It wouldn’t be so bad is it was clever play that unlocked our defence. A basic ball over the top is enough. Grayson has made lots of bad tactical decitions over last month or so. Today was no different. It was a vital must win game, we were at home, we can’t defend. Why did he choose to play Somma up front on his own? Doesn’t make sense to me!?
I just hope Grayson can sort it out before its too late. I have my doubts! We are still in a great position & it would be a discrace if we let this chance of promotion pass us by.

Far far too many attacking and midfield players at the club in my opinion…Grayson has not sorted out earlier enough the fundamental route of the problem…the DEFENCE…it has been glaringly obvious for MONTHS that we needed some decent defenders and the club has failed big sytle in getting some in…our best defensive display this season?…away at Aresenal in the FA Cup….therefore get Connolly and Parker back in alongside OB and Bruce and at least we’ve half a chance….in my opinion Bromby is average at best and calling for Naylor to be put back in smacks of utter desperation.

IT MAYBE TIME TO BRING NAYLOR BACK INTO THE TEAM,HE IS A NATURAL LEADER TO SORT THE DEFENCE OUT FOR THE LAST 4 GAMES. THIS WHAT WE HAVING BEEN LACKING ALL SEASON A LEADER. COME THE SUMMER IF WE DO R DONT GET INTO THE PLAYOFF WE NEED A CLEAR OUT ,WE NEED TO SPEND MONEY. IF WE GET PROMOTED WE WILL HAVE TO SPEND 15 -20 MILLION TO STAY UP.

Our defence is crap we need paddy why does he keep getting midfield players is he on drugs time he realised Leeds ain’t blackpool. Mot

Will everybody stop kissing the arse of paddy kisnorbo. His Leeds career is totally over rated. People have short memories. At times he was as bad as any of our defenders. Cast your mind back to the away game at Swindon when we lost 0-3. He had a shocker!! McCartney & co might be shite but at least they haven’t been injured for 18 months.

Come on lads chins up we would have took this at start of season i know its dissapointing as at christmas i thought we were certs for going up but lets be realistic we dont want to go up and get spanked every week , one more year and with a couple of good buys i think were back where we belong .

  • Luciano

you lot forget the last time we were this close to going back into premiership and the following season we got relegated and to be honest our defence isnt the best but we have still got this high because we can score 5 when they score 4 and so maybe we arent exactly premier league material but who thought stoke were or bolton or fulham. All the critics just keep being like this eveytime its the fact we are leeds thats why! remember we our dirty leeds and i am proud to be a fan.

  • Luciano

and another thing paddy kisnorbo is our rock and heart every player has bad games even messi or ronaldo one performance doesnt mean anything and i have watched leeds play its just they get pushed back and our big sturdy centre is missing and wont be back till next season
